What should you know to choose the right pair of tights?
To choose the right pair of tights or stockings, you have to think about the occasion you are going to use them on and know the information provided about the product. First of all, the tights you are going to use will be very different depending on the season of the year. Obviously, you will use thin, light tights for the hot seasons and thick, more opaque tights to protect you from the cold in the harshest months. Therefore, we are interested in knowing what is meant by Denier, so we are going to start by explaining it.
WHAT IS A DENIER?
When we are about to buy a pair of tights or stockings, it is normal to see the word DENIER among the product specifications, also abbreviated simply as DEN in most cases. The Denier is the unit that expresses the thickness or level of transparency of the garment and depends on the thickness of the thread with which the stocking is made. A lower Denier number indicates a thinner and more transparent stocking, on the other hand, a higher Denier number refers to a thicker and more opaque stocking. Depending on the Denier number, we could classify tights and stockings into the following categories:
- 15 DEN or less: Ultra-thin, transparent tights that give the sensation of not wearing stockings. A perfect example would be these 10 DEN Summer Tights .
- 15 - 30 DEN: Thin, fairly light, transparent pantyhose, so you can see a lot of skin under the garment. This is a very common stocking in the mid-season (spring and autumn) for everyday use such as going to the office, as is the case with this 20 DEN Lycra pantyhose with demarcation.
- 30 - 40 DEN: Semi-opaque tights, the skin can still be seen through the fabric but very little, this opacity is more noticeable in black tights. It would look like our 30 DEN Lycra Panty without demarcation.
- 40 DEN or more: Opaque tights, you can barely see the skin through the garment because they are no longer transparent. They are the perfect tights for the colder months, like this 80 DEN Panty .
SUMMER PANTYHOSE VS WINTER PANTYHOSE
Summer tights are an interesting option to show off beautiful legs with shorts, skirts and dresses. It is important to choose quality tights so that they are really light and fresh. If the DEN of the tights chosen is thin enough, we will get the feeling of not wearing stockings. Tights help to shape and stylize the figure, as well as blurring certain imperfections on the surface of the skin. It is also important to choose a shade that suits us well. Summer tights will help us achieve a more uniform color, especially when we are not yet tanned. If you are going to combine summer tights with sandals, you must make sure that they have an invisible toe. Wearing tights with a toe and sandals will ruin your look.
On the other hand, in winter we want to protect ourselves from the cold, which is why many women tend to wear less skirts and dresses during this time of year. So to make sure that we are warm all day long it is important to choose tights with a very high DEN or even a fleecy Polar Pantyhose with which we are sure that we will not suffer from the cold and that we will be protected against inclement weather.
